However, many Americans live in &#8220;food deserts,&#8221; places where access to nutritious food is difficult. Food deserts can come about due to a variety of factors, such as lack of grocery stores within a manageable distance or the inability to afford the healthy foods that are available in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Local Roots&#8221; is a fictitious community pantry organization based in Southeast Raleigh that focuses on bringing the food to the people, free of cost. Community fridge stations are spread out to neighborhoods in need, and they are filled with pre-cooked meals and raw ingredients that people can take as needed. Additionally, Local Roots encourages sustainability by using recyclable packaging and having compost bins available for any useable food waste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\"
